Is this you?

If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

  • Late nights take days to shake
  • Muscle that’s harder to keep
  • Weight that’s harder to shift
  • Check-up numbers inching up
  • Every cold takes longer to shake
  • Less sharp than you used to be

You’re not imagining the change, and it’s worth finding what’s behind it.

Why it keeps happening

What slows you down can build quietly for years.

These five areas are where it usually starts, long before a check-up flags anything.

  1. 01

    Metabolism

Metabolism is how well you turn food into fuel. As blood sugar control slips, weight settles more easily and energy dips between meals.

  2. 02

    Hormones

The shifts of your 40s and 50s change your muscle, bones, sleep and mood, and how quickly you recover from a hard week.

  3. 03

    Nutrients

Your muscles, bones and brain need minerals and vitamins to repair. Running short shows up as slower recovery and a duller edge.

  4. 04

    Gut

Even on a good diet, your gut may not be absorbing everything, so less reaches the muscles and brain that need it.

  5. 05

    Stress

Years of pressure keep your body on alert, and repair gets pushed to the back of the line.

What you’ve tried

You’ve probably tried some of these.

Tap a card to see why it didn’t stick.

None of that effort is wasted. It just works better once you know what your body actually needs.

The real problem

Slower recovery is an early warning. It’s worth checking now.

It’s easy to put it down to age and just push harder: more training, more supplements, more sleep on weekends. But when recovery slows, it’s usually because something underneath has started to slip.

Your body repairs itself using the food you absorb, steady blood sugar, balanced hormones and deep sleep. Long-term stress pulls resources away from repair. When one of these slips, the others cover for it for a while, until they can’t.

One common pattern
  1. What you feelWorkouts, colds and late nights take longer to shake off
  2. What’s driving itBlood sugar swings, and lighter, more broken sleep
  3. Where it startsShifting hormones, and years of steady stress

So we look for what’s slipping now, while there’s plenty you can do about it.

How we help

Find out what’s slowing you down. Then act on it early.

  1. 01

    Test properly.

Blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, hormones, your full thyroid, nutrients, inflammation and digestion, side by side.

  2. 02

    Find the pattern.

You see which markers are drifting, and which one is pulling the others with it, while there’s still plenty of room to act.

  3. 03

    Build your plan.

Four months of custom supplements, a curriculum and 1:1 coaching to build the base. The membership takes it further.

Who we are

Meet Dr. Anthony Alphonso and the Back to Wellness team.

We’re a functional medicine practice for people who’ve been told they’re fine but still don’t feel it. Anthony has been in practice since 2007.

It started with his son, whose eczema and gut trouble weren’t getting better with the usual treatment. Anthony went looking further than he’d been trained to, finished his functional medicine training in 2009, and watched his son’s health turn around. He’s been doing the same for patients ever since.

Still not sure?

The questions everyone asks.

But I’m not sick. Is this for me?

Yes, and it’s the best time to start. Most patients come to us once something has gone wrong. Starting while you feel mostly well means building on what you have, not trying to win it back.

But isn’t slowing down just part of getting older?

Some change, yes. But some of what gets put down to age has a cause underneath it, and that’s worth checking before you accept it.

But will insurance cover it?

No. Our patients invest in the program directly, and the free call covers the details so you know where you stand before deciding.

But do I have to come off my medication?

No. We work alongside your physician, and any decision about medication stays between you and them.

But what if it’s something serious?

If you notice chest pain, breathlessness, sudden weakness or numbness, call 911. See your physician for weight loss you can’t explain or any new lump. If we find anything that needs medical attention, we’ll tell you.

Ready when you are.
