Cutting out more food won’t tell you why your gut keeps reacting. There’s usually a cause worth finding.

Is this you?

If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

  • Bloated by the afternoon
  • Reflux the pills only half fix
  • Planning around the bathroom
  • Constipation, diarrhea, or both
  • Gas and discomfort after meals
  • Turning down dinners out

Food shouldn’t feel like the enemy, and there’s usually a reason it does.

Why it keeps happening

The same bloating can have very different causes.

That’s why one test, or one diet, so often misses it.

  1. 01

    Digestion

Heavy and bloated after almost any meal? If food isn’t broken down properly in your stomach, it can ferment further along and bloat you.

  2. 02

    Gut balance

Your gut lining and the bacteria in it affect what you can tolerate. Out of balance, foods you used to eat without a thought can cause trouble.

  3. 03

    Liver

Do rich meals sit badly? Your liver and gallbladder help you digest fat. If that isn’t working well, fatty food can leave you heavy and bloated.

  4. 04

    Stress

Your body turns digestion down when you’re under pressure. Years of that can leave your gut working at half speed.

  5. 05

    Nutrients

Your gut needs the right vitamins and minerals to do its job, and a struggling gut absorbs less of them, so the two can keep making each other worse.

What you’ve tried

You’ve probably tried some of these.

Tap a card to see why it didn’t stick.

You’ve been careful with every bite. What was missing was someone putting the pieces together.

The real problem

Every flare-up is a signal. Cutting foods just hides it.

Cutting out the food behind the last flare-up feels like progress, and for a while it can be. But it doesn’t change why your gut reacted, so the next food starts causing trouble, and the list keeps growing.

Digestion works like a chain. Your stomach breaks food down, your liver and gallbladder handle fat, and your gut absorbs what’s left, while stress can slow every step. When one link struggles, foods you used to enjoy start to bother you.

One common pattern
  1. What you feelBloated and uncomfortable after almost every meal
  2. What’s driving itFood not breaking down properly, so it ferments further along
  3. Where it startsYears of stress slowing digestion, and a gut that’s out of balance

So we start by finding what your gut is reacting to.

How we help

Find what’s upsetting your gut. Then fix it.

  1. 01

    Test properly.

How well you break down and absorb food, gut balance, liver, stress and key nutrients, read together.

  2. 02

    Find the pattern.

We look for what’s behind the flare-ups, so any food changes are guided by what we find, not guesswork.

  3. 03

    Build your plan.

Custom supplements, a curriculum and 1:1 coaching for four months, with food changes made at a pace you can live with.

Dr. Anthony Alphonso
Who we are

Meet Dr. Anthony Alphonso and the Back to Wellness team.

We’re a functional medicine practice for people who’ve been told they’re fine but still don’t feel it. Anthony has been in practice since 2007.

It started with his son, whose eczema and gut trouble weren’t getting better with the usual treatment. Anthony went looking further than he’d been trained to, finished his functional medicine training in 2009, and watched his son’s health turn around. He’s been doing the same for patients ever since.

Finding the root cause

  • Gut, liver and stress read together
  • A reason for the flare-ups
  • Food changes made step by step
  • Working toward your meals back
Your next step

If you saw yourself in that list, start with a call.

It’s free, it takes 15 minutes, and it’s the quickest way to find out whether we can help. Here’s how it goes:

  1. You tell us what’s been going on, and what you’ve tried.
  2. We tell you honestly whether we can help.
  3. You leave knowing your next step, either way.

No cost and no obligation.

Still not sure?

The questions everyone asks.

But I’ve already cut out half my diet.

Most of our patients had. Any food changes here follow what we find and happen step by step with your coach. The aim is for you to eat more widely, not less.

But I don’t have time for this.

The first step is a 15-minute call. After that, coaching fits around your week, all from home.

But will insurance cover it?

No. Our patients invest in the program directly, and we walk you through everything on the call so there are no surprises.

But do I have to come off my reflux medication?

No. Please don’t change anything on your own. We work alongside your physician, and any decision about medication stays between you and them.

But what if it’s something serious?

Get urgent care for vomiting blood, black or bloody stools, or severe belly pain. See your doctor soon for weight loss you can’t explain, trouble swallowing, or vomiting that won’t stop.

Ready when you are.
