Is this you?

If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

  • Forgetting why you walked in
  • Names that won’t come
  • Foggy by mid-afternoon
  • Hard to hold your focus
  • Lists you never used to need
  • Quietly worrying what it means

Your head shouldn’t feel this cloudy. There’s usually a physical reason.

Why it keeps happening

Five things that can cloud your thinking.

Most of them sit outside your head, so they rarely get checked together.

  1. 01

    Nutrients

Your brain relies on B12, iron and vitamin D. If you’re low on them, fog can be one of the first things you notice.

  2. 02

    Thyroid

A slow thyroid can slow your thinking down with it, and one basic blood test doesn’t always show it.

  3. 03

    Gut

Your gut and brain are in constant contact. When digestion is struggling, your focus and memory can struggle with it.

  4. 04

    Sleep

Your brain clears out and resets overnight. Miss the deep, restoring part of the night and you wake up foggy, however long you were in bed.

  5. 05

    Hormones

Did the fog arrive around menopause? Falling hormone levels can make words and names harder to reach.

What you’ve tried

You’ve probably tried some of these.

Tap a card to see why it didn’t stick.

Your effort was never the problem. The physical causes just weren’t on anyone’s list.

The real problem

When your head feels foggy, your body is usually telling you something.

Puzzles, coffee and lists all work on the fog itself. They can get you through the day, but they don’t change what’s clouding your thinking, so the fog comes back the moment you stop.

Your brain runs on what the rest of your body supplies: nutrients your gut has absorbed, steady blood sugar, thyroid hormone and a proper night’s sleep. When one of those runs low, your thinking can be the first thing to slow.

One common pattern
  1. What you feelFoggy and slow by mid-afternoon, searching for words
  2. What’s driving itBlood sugar crashing after lunch, and low B12 and iron
  3. Where it startsA gut that isn’t absorbing nutrients, and nights without deep sleep

So we don’t just train your memory. We look for what’s slowing it down.

How we help

Find what’s clouding your thinking. Then clear it.

  1. 01

    Test properly.

B12, iron, vitamin D, thyroid, blood sugar, gut, sleep and hormones, checked as one picture.

  2. 02

    Find the pattern.

We look for which of these is behind the fog, and what to work on first.

  3. 03

    Build your plan.

Custom supplements, a curriculum and 1:1 coaching for four months, at a pace that fits your week.

Dr. Anthony Alphonso
Who we are

Meet Dr. Anthony Alphonso and the Back to Wellness team.

We’re a functional medicine practice for people who’ve been told they’re fine but still don’t feel it. Anthony has been in practice since 2007.

It started with his son, whose eczema and gut trouble weren’t getting better with the usual treatment. Anthony went looking further than he’d been trained to, finished his functional medicine training in 2009, and watched his son’s health turn around. He’s been doing the same for patients ever since.

Still not sure?

The questions everyone asks.

But isn’t it just my age, or menopause?

It’s common at this stage of life, but common and normal aren’t the same thing. Hormones, nutrients, thyroid and sleep can all play a part, and each one can be looked into.

But could my medication be causing it?

Some medications can affect focus and memory. That’s a conversation for your physician, so please don’t change anything on your own. Any decision stays between you and them.

But I don’t have time for this.

The first step is a 15-minute call. After that, coaching fits around your week, all from home.

But will insurance cover it?

No. Our patients invest in the program directly, and we walk you through everything on the call so there are no surprises.

But what if it’s something serious?

Call 911 for sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or weakness or numbness on one side. See your doctor if your memory is getting worse or you get lost somewhere familiar.

Ready when you are.
